The short version
Task history and generated files stay on your Mac. Prompts and required context are processed by your selected model provider. Wavy does not run analytics or tracking in the app, and we do not sell data.
What stays on your Mac
- Your task history, conversations, and everything Wavy writes or edits in your folders.
- Generated documents, decks, and spreadsheets.
- Your API keys, stored in the macOS Keychain and never shown to the app's interface again.
- Wavy's memory of your preferences.
What leaves your Mac
- Model requests. Your prompts, and the context a task needs (file contents it reads, web pages it fetches, attachments you add), are sent to the model provider you select — Anthropic when you bring your own key, or through Wavy's account service when you use the included trial allowance. Providers process this data under their own terms.
- Voice input (optional). If you connect an OpenAI key for dictation, the recording you submit is transcribed by OpenAI. Audio is held in memory and not saved.
- Web research. When a task searches or opens pages, those requests go to the sites involved.
Google Workspace connections
If you choose to connect a Google account, Wavy requests only the permissions needed for the Google Workspace features you enable:
- Google Drive. Wavy can read and change files it created or files you explicitly shared with it.
- Gmail. Wavy can search and read messages needed for a task and can send a message only after showing you the exact recipients, subject, and body for approval.
- Google Calendar. Wavy can read calendars and events and can create an event only after approval. It does not invite attendees automatically.
Wavy uses Google user data only to complete tasks you request. Provider requests go directly from the Wavy desktop app to Google. Nango holds the OAuth refresh credential; Wavy's account service delivers a short-lived access token to your authenticated desktop session and does not retain Google content. Google data may be included in a model request only when it is necessary for the task you asked Wavy to perform, and is then processed by the model provider described above. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or use it to train general-purpose AI models.
You can disconnect any Google connection in Wavy Settings, revoke Wavy in your Google Account, and delete local task history at any time. Disconnecting deletes Wavy's connection at Nango.
Wavy's use and transfer of information received from Google Workspace APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
The Wavy account service
If you sign in for the trial allowance, we store your email address, a session token, and a running total of your usage so we can meter the included allowance. Model requests made through the service are forwarded to Anthropic and are not retained by us beyond what is needed to operate and meter the service.
Your choices
- Use your own API key at any time — then your model traffic goes directly to the provider.
- Turn web access off for a task, and it works only from what you give it.
- Delete the app and its data folder, and your local data is gone.
